Rocky Patel The Edge Maduro

Rocky Patel Edge Torpedo

Wrapper: Maduro

Binder: Nicaragua

Filler: Secret

Size: 6 X 52

Overview: This fine cigar from Rocky Patel delivers a full flavored punch that is good while playing golf, sipping Bourbon on your lanai, sailing out in the Bay, or anytime you need a good pick-me-up.

(9/10) Pre-light: The Rocky Patel Edge pre-light draw delivers hints of chocolate and pepper along with a strong note of tobacco. There are a few veins on this oily wrapped cigar but nothing that could take away from the beauty of this stick. The cigar itself is well packed with no soft spots and a tightly packed foot.

(29/30) Flavor and Burn: This smoke is a homerun from the start. With notes of leather, tobacco, and earth in the first third, a full flavored complex managerie of flavor greet you from the very start. The second third of this cigar bring in hints of chocolate and espresso with the tobacco note staying dominant. The last third of the cigar finish strong but not out of control with the spices returning and a mocha aftertaste. The cigar tends to mellow out as it progresses with many flavors gracing the pallette.

(28/30) Golf Cart Test: The Rocky Patel Edge Torpedo passes the golf cart test with flying colors. With a whitish grey marble ash that hangs on for well over an inch and a half, the ash won't drop until you feel like ashing it. The burn of the cigar is fairly even but every now and then it gets a little jagged, but eventually it catches up with itself without need for correction.

(28/30) Overall: This is a nice cigar that can be enjoyed with a nice Bourbon (I suggest Maker's Mark), espresso, or lager beer (Sam Adam's works nicely). The complex flavors play with the pallette and interact with a beverage quite nicely. Having smoked this stick on the golf course, and at home where it is quite windy, this cigar holds on to it's ash extremely well with little burn problems. I recommend picking up a few of these if you get a chance; that is if you enjoy a rich, full bodied, full aroma cigar that is a beauty to smoke.
